Voting Day

I posted a photo of my ballot four years ago, but I don't think anyone will be surprised at what I'm up to this year on the Presidential front.  What I am excited about this year is voting in support of Referendum 74 that would legalize same-sex marriage in Washington state.

Two related points...

One.  While I credit Scouting for so much in my life, I am disappointed by the Boys Scouts of America's continued policy excluding openly gay members (which I certainly acknowledge to be within their legal rights).  I'm not the first to do this, but today I'm dropping a letter and my Eagle badge in the mail back to the BSA.  Hopefully they will have matured by the time it is Jordi's turn to be a Cub Scout.

Two.  There was a time when I used to work for warm and fuzzy nonprofits, but I have unabashedly since sold out.  This video makes me proud to work for the world's largest online travel agency:

I'm very proud of my husband and humbled at how easy it was for him to obtain that title. There was a time when interracial marriage wasn't legal either (though Washington State was a leader on that front, as well). I look forward to the day when it seems just as ridiculous to imagine same-sex marriage as illegal in our country.
